Steam Clean vs. Chem-Dry
March 14, 2004
Hey folks:
BHCC has recently decided to switch to Steam Clean only. We've tried other methods and Steam Cleaning seems to be the best option for everyone. If you'd like some more details about the Pros and Cons, read on!
Steam Cleaning vs. Chem-Dry Cleaning
You walk on your carpeting every day. And as much as you vacuum and spot-clean after Fido, there are a number of oil-based residues, dirt, and grime that can penetrate deep into the fibers in your home's carpeting. So when it comes to getting that deep clean, you are faced with one of two choices: Chem-Dry or steam cleaning.
We at BH Carpet Cleaning, have long believed in the benefits and cleaning strength of steam cleaning. In fact, when we first started, we offered both services, but many customers were not satisfied with the results of Chem-Dry carpet cleaning. We have since eliminated the service entirely in order to meet our customer's expectations and better their experience with deep carpet cleaning.
Steam cleaning has a number of benefits over Chem-Dry treatments.
A deep, thorough cleaning. When you think about the process of both steam cleaning and Chem-Dry carpet cleaning, you'll understand exactly why steam cleaning is preferred. Chem-Dry carpet cleaning processes involve powders and chemicals used to treat the carpet. Instead, steam cleaning uses hot water, non-toxic detergents, and an agitator to get deep down to the base fibers of your carpet to get to the dirt and stains that may have penetrated down to the padding of your carpets.
No harsh chemicals. The name "Chem-Dry" says it all--dangerous, toxic chemicals are used in the Chem-Dry carpet cleaning process. A powdery substance that can be dangerous to pets and children is agitated into your carpet. However, with steam cleaning, we can use just hot water alone to get a thorough cleansing, or can utilize one of our certified non-toxic detergents to get those hard-to-clean stains out from your carpets and rugs. By just using hot water and the occasional non-toxic detergent, steam cleaning is a greener, more organic and safe option for your home.
No sticky residue. One of the most comment complains from individuals who have had the Chem-Dry process done on their carpets is the sticky residue that the cleaning powder can leave behind. With steam cleaning, you will not have this issue, as our cleaners leave your carpet free from all detergents when we complete your carpet cleaning services.
Safe for all fabrics and fibers. Steam cleaning can be used on essentially any kind of carpet or rug fibers, while Chem-Dry carpet cleaning uses chemicals that may not be used on certain fibers because it may harm, destroy, or discolor it. Steam cleaning can be used on both natural and synthetic carpeting, and can even clean natural wool carpets and rugs with ease. Chem-Dry carpet cleaning methods cannot be used because of their harsh chemical combinations.
Less expensive. Steam cleaning is typically a less costly way to clean your carpets and rugs. Because it only uses hot water and the occasional non-toxic detergent, you can be rest assured that not only will your carpets be cleaner, that your pocket bookwon't be lighter!
The benefits of steam cleaning far outweigh those of Chem-Dry carpet cleaning processes, which is why we rely solely on this form of deep cleaning to satisfy our clients and get the job done. If you are looking to give your carpets the royal treatment, do not hesitate to contact us at BH Carpet Cleaning for an appointment today!
